Dear Friends of Carmel,
We are so pleased to extend to you our invitation and welcome to join us during this year's upcoming Solemn Novena honoring Our Lady of Mount Carmel, the Mother of our Lord and our Mother. Since the beginning, the Church has long understood with increasing awarenes the great gift we have been given in Mary. Yet, like many children with their mothers, we too often set her aside while we deal with the busynes of our lives, until circumstances cause us to feel our great need for her motherly protection. To quote a firend "When a child is in need, it runs to its Mother. When a child is in danger, the Mother runs to it!" Despeite our weaknesses, Mary, the most perfect of all mothers, through history even to this day has and continues to come to the aid of her children.
Therefore, says St. Gabriel of the Sorrowful Mother: "Love Mary!... She is lovable, faithful, constant. She will never let herself be outdone in love, but will ever remain supreme. If you are in danger, she will hasten to free you. If you are troubled, she will console you. If you are sick, she will bring you relief. If you are in need, she iwll help you. She does not look to see what kind of person you ahve been. She simply comes to a heart that wnats to love her. She comes quickly and opens her mericful heart to you, embarces you, and consoles and serves you. She will even be at hand to accompany you on the trip to eternity.
This year, our Novena speaker will turn our attention to the virtues of this most august queen, our Mother, particularly the moral virtues, along with the vices of struggling humanity which, by living with Mary and in imitation of her, we are able to conquer in our own lives.
We hope you will be able to come to Mt. Carmel, Mary's own place, to share with us at least all or part of these special days. This time set apart especially for and with Mary is always a time of special grace and blessings and we look forward to sharing it with each and every one of you.
